Canar calls for the Need to Intensify efforts to defeat Malaria, In the World Malaria Day Celebrations

El Obeid- May 2008.

The capital of North Kordofan state witnessed the celebrations of the World Malaria Day 2008. Inaugurated by Dr. Faisal Hassan, Governor of North Kordofan State, the event took place in the University of Kordofan premises, with representation from the Government of National Unity, Canar Telecommunications Company, Federal Ministry of Health, National Malaria Program, Shekan Locality, Legislators from the Kordofan state, the UN World Health Organization (WHO) and the UNICEF.

Addressing the inauguration session Dr. Tarig Abdul Gadir, National Coordinator, of the National Roll back Malaria Program, praised Canar telecom's outstanding role in supporting and backing the efforts of combating Malaria and increasing awareness on the disease, in addition to the other activities supported by the Canar Roll Back Malaria Project.

Canar's Representative Mr. Waleed Al Amin in his speech to the audience stated that, Malaria is considered to be one most dangerous diseases of all time, and on behalf of canar he called for all entities to work together and participate in efforts taking place to fight the disease. He also called for mobilization of funds to support these efforts, and encouraged corporations on both the national and international level to participate in supporting these efforts.

Canar Telecommunication Company, since its establishment has given special attention to its social responsibility towards the society. This is seen in its continuous support to the various sectors. A great example is Canar's partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health and the National Roll Back Malaria Program. Through the Canar Roll Back Malaria Project, canar strived to work harder together with the National Malaria program on spreading and increasing the awareness and lowering of Malaria mortality rates.

n order to achieve its goals the Canar Roll Back Malaria Project focuses on the spreading and increasing of Malaria awareness and the free distribution of impregnated nets and other purposeful activities, which take place in different parts of the Sudan . Canar is very aware of the importance of increasing awareness in combating Malaria, as these efforts lead to the increase of funds allocated to fighting one of the deadliest diseases in Sudan and Africa.
